    pictures coming soon

Material:  worsted weight yarn, three colors – cap, underside, and stem

US Hook Size:  H (5.0 mm)

Also needed:  yarn needle, scrap yarn for decoration, a small handful of poly-fill, and three ‘3/4-inch’ flat washers

Stitches Used:  magic circle (mc), single crochet (sc), invisible decrease (inv dec)

Finishes Size:  3 inches across, 4 inches tall

Skill Level:  intermediate; this project is worked in continuous rounds from top to bottom

Helpful Hint:  Amigurumi is very forgiving!  Learn to count stitches.  Try to end each round on the number of stitches made [5, 7, 9, 11, 15, etc.].  If there are too few stitches after any round, add one, if there are too many stitches, replace beginning 2 sc with 1 sc.

Instructions:

Begin cap section:  with first color mc, 5 sc, pull starting yarn tight, closing circle completely [5 sc made]

Round 2:  *(2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in the next sc)*twice, 1 sc in the next sc [7 sc made]

Round 3:  *(2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 2 scs)*twice, 1 sc in the next sc [9 sc made]

Round 4:  *(2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 3 scs)*twice, 1 sc in the next sc [11 sc made]

Round 6:  *(2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 2 scs)*5 times [20 sc made]

Round 7:  *(2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 3 scs)*5 times [25 sc made]

Round 8:  *(2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 4 scs)*5 times [30 sc made]

Round 9:  *(2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 4 scs)*6 times [36 sc made]

Round 10:  *(2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of the next 5 scs)*6 times [42 sc made]

Round 16:  *(inv dec in next 2 scs, sc in the next 3)* 3 times, tie off [12 sc made]

Use poly-fill to stuff the stem and add 3 washers for weight if desired before continuing

Finishing the bottom of stem:  slip stitch in the next sc, working in back loops only, *(insert the hook into the next sc and pull up a loop, again insert the hook into the next sc and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on the hook)*7 times, sc in the same sc where the previous slip stitch was placed. Leaving a 4-5 inch tail, cut the yarn and use the tail to whip stitch through the last 8 stitches made, pull tight, tie off, and tuck in tail.
